We are officially on to the state semifinals of the 2025 MIAA Softball Tournament!
Six South Shore teams remained standing heading into state quarterfinal weekend.
As the dust settled on the final leg of non-neutral site play, just two teams remained.
Let’s dive into all the action from the weekend.
Two games kicked off the weekend Friday night, as Abington and East Bridgewater each sought spots in the Division 4 semifinals.
Both teams suffered frustrating defeats, though for different reasons.
Maggie Schlossberg launched a solo shot for the Lady Vikings, but EB’s defense wasn’t up to the task as their upset bid of 4th ranked Joseph Case fell short 5-1.
Errors plagued the Lady Vikings all day, as all five of Case’s runs were unearned.
Up at Uxbridge, Abington never got the bats going in their attempt to upset the 2nd ranked Spartans.
Erin O’Day tossed a gem for Uxbridge, no-hitting the Green Wave while striking out 20, including 19 of the last 20 batters she faced. Abington couldn’t get a base runner aboard after the first inning, and squandered an incredible performance from Elsie Testa.
Testa shut Uxbridge out into the 6th before O’Day hit a one-out double and came around to score on a Gabby Belanger RBI single.
Sunday saw two South Shore head-to-head matchups take center stage.
Braintree, Plymouth North, Sandwich Baseball Final Four Bound
First, undefeated and four-time defending champion Taunton got all they could handle from Bridgewater-Raynham.
The two teams hadn’t met since Taunton notched a walk-off win in the 2022 Sweet 16. Sunday’s affair proved similarly tight.
Sophomore Maddie Delano limited the Tigers (23-0) to just four hits and one earned run over six innings, but two slap bunts by junior Mia Torres plated a pair of runs for Taunton in the 2-0 victory.
That was all the Tigers needed. Georgetown-bound senior Cate Larson dazzled in the circle, striking out 11 and limiting B-R to just two hits.
Taunton will head back to the Final Four for a rematch with 4th ranked Bishop Feehan. The Tigers beat Feehan 8-2 earlier this year.

For the top seed in Division 2, a trip to the Final Four came a little bit easier.
Silver Lake downed Middleboro 7-0 thanks largely to another gem from Fairfield-bound senior Delaney Moquin.
Moquin helped herself with a two-run homer in the first inning, and proceeded to toss a 15 strikeout shutout in the circle.
Alannah Waters (three runs) and Anna Craft (two RBI) were also key contributors on offense.
Silver Lake now awaits an opponent for their state semifinal matchup. Walpole and Westfield meet Monday for the spot in the Final Four.
Both Taunton and Silver Lake will travel to Dartmouth for their state semifinal matchups.
