It’s on to the Sweet 16 in the 2025 MIAA Softball Tournament!
In fact, for some, it’s already on to the Elite 8.
The South Shore entered the Sweet 16 with 11 area teams remaining in the field. Thus far, two teams have punched their ticket to the Elite 8, and two more have seen their seasons brought to an end.
East Bridgewater provided one of the highlights of the tournament on Tuesday, as Maggie Schlossberg and Mia Holmes combined to no-hit 21st seeded Lynnfield to advance to the quarterfinals. The duo struck out 17 batters, and watched as Bella Abrams (two hits, two runs), Olivia Atkins (two RBI), and Kenzie Whitman (two hits, one RBI) provided the offense in a 3-0 win.
Neighboring Bridgewater-Raynham also pushed through to the Elite 8, knocking off Central Catholic with a 4-1 win.
Madison DeLano was nails within the chalk, tossing 12 strikeouts in the circle, and going 2-2 with a walk in the batter’s box. Several offensive contributors chipped in for the Trojans who await the winner of the Taunton vs Weymouth matchup.
On the other side of the ledger, Marshfield and Archbishop Williams found themselves bounced from the tournament with road losses to St. Paul Diocesan and Norton respectively.
